Associations between stages of menopause, alcohol use, and wellbeing.

This study aims at answering the following question: What is the role of alcohol in women’s lives as they transition through menopause?
As such, this study will investigate the associations between alcohol consumption, menopause stages and symptoms, wellbeing, and the factors that affect these associations over time.
Participants will complete fortnightly online surveys asking questions on these topics over 6 months (12 surveys in total).
This study is part of a larger PhD project.

Requirements

  • Age 40 -65
  • Assigned female at birth and identifying as a woman
  • Fluent in English
  • Not pregnant
  • We are ideally looking for participants from various ethnic backgrounds to ensure diversity and inclusivity.

About the researcher

Madeline Rowe is a second-year PhD student from Liverpool John Moores University. Her thesis is on midlife women's alcohol use and how it may be related to menopause and wellbeing. She has an interest in alcohol and drug addictions, and women's health in general.
