Yoga to Improve Mood and Thinking Patterns in Young Adults with Depression

We are recruiting adult aged 18 to 45 who are experiencing the symptoms of moderate to severe depression. This study involves free yoga sessions over 12 weeks, 1 face to face and 11 online sessions per month. Participants will undergo a series of assessments before and after the 12 weeks of the yoga sessions and 12 week after the completion of yoga, including cognitive tests, mental health questionnaires, blood tests, ultrasound measure of blood flow to the brain, and neuromuscular assessments.
Requirements
- Individuals with moderate or severe symptoms of depression
- Able to participate in 36 yoga sessions over 12 weeks
- Aged between 18 to 45 years
- BMI 18 to 40
- Any genders
- Able to read and write in English
- No Involvement in regular mindfulness-based activity (3 or more days per week, or more than 150 min of mindfulness-based physical activity per week) in the previous 3 months.
- No Significant medical co-comorbidities precluding participation in a yoga intervention (e.g., severe cardiovascular disease)
- No Colour blindness
- No suicide ideation or history of suicide attempts
- NO previous history and co-comorbidities of other psychiatric (excluding anxiety disorder), neurological diseases and substance abuse
- No Visual or Auditory Impairment
- No physical deformities
- Not Pregnant
