Genital Pain in Daily Life

01 May 2024

Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well!
We have created a survey for both hetero and non-hetero couples to better understand how women and their partners cope with genital pain complaints in their daily lives, and how it affects their sexual well-being.
Despite the prevalence of genital pain and its profound impact on mental and physical well-being, many research questions regarding its causes, why it persists, and how the diagnoses differ from one another remain unanswered.

Requirements

  • You should be over 18 years old.
  • You should be in a stable heterosexual or non-heterosexual relationship of at least 6 months’ duration.
  • You should have been experiencing genital pain complaints for at least 6 months.
  • You are eligible to participate whether or not you have received a formal diagnosis.
  • Both you and your partner must be willing to complete the survey.
  • Neither you nor your partner should experience severe psychiatric disorders or have problematic drug use.

About the researcher

My name is Lorenza, and I am a PhD student at Maastricht University working on a project focused on female genito-pelvic pain. Through my study, I aim to help women share their experiences with genital pain and publish research that enhances understanding of this condition.
Additionally, our project aims to develop a pelvic trainer tailored to patients' needs. This trainer could be used at home, allowing women to train their pelvic floor at their own pace and according to their needs.
